I was so surprised and delighted to receive a pack of prizes from Mol an Óige today.
Mol an Óige is run by two Irish primary teachers based in Limerick. They have a varied selection of certificates and prizes to suit all primary classes. They often have class packs for events throughout the school year e.g. Seachtain na Gaeilge. Here’s a quick look at what I got and how I would use them.
I love these certificates – in my class I choose 2/3 children at the end of each week who have stood out – working hard, being kind, big improvement, persisting when they find something difficult. This is then stapled into their homework journals for their parents to see too.
These would be very handy for younger classes as an individual reward chart or they might be helpful in the resource room. Once the child accomplishes a task or completes a target they can receive a sticker. Once the card is filled they could then get a reward of their choice.
These sharpeners and rubbers are really cute and will be given as prizes for children who speak Gaeilge go neamhfhoirmiúil or who make a big effort during Seachtain na Gaeilge.
The pens and pencils will be a big bonus for Seachtain na Gaeilge too. The pencils have lovely phrases as Gaeilge written on them.
The armbands and badges will be used during Seachtain na Gaeilge too.
I love these stickers (as Gaeilge) – I’ll be using these throughout the year in Irish copies.
Throughout the remainder of the school year, I’ll be choosing a Gaelgeoir na Seachtaine – one child who has made a huge effort with Irish during the week.
Overall, I find the the prizes/certificates from Mol an Óige to be very high quality and they are a fantastic resource for classroom management.
