We’ve all had those days where everything goes wrong. Usually I get the sense in the first couple of minutes – hmm it’s going to be one of those days…
Being on teaching practice, during your NQT year those days may be a little more frequent and sometimes the day finishes and you believe you are the worst in the world (trust me – I’ve been there.) So what to do?
1. Get away from school, plans, computer, children – basically anything to do with work and go for a walk just to clear your head. (I always go to the sea – either a beach/ cliffs as I find it relaxes me within seconds.)
2. Write it down – what went right? what went wrong? what would i do differently? These questions are invaluable and will help you learn from mistakes.
3. Think about what you have achieved so far this year. (all the things that have gone well – usually after a bad day we focus on everything that is negative)
4. Forget about it. Yes I know this is easier said than done sometimes.
