I’m done – what will I do now? There are always so many different levels in one class so I’ve put together a document catering for the needs of Early finishers within your classroom. The Early Finishers bundle covers Literacy (free writing, short stories, lists, magpie work, and reading activities), Maths, Gaeilge, STEM activities, Art and Geography.
The early finishers bundle is designed to be challenging and also worthwhile so that children who finish their work early are not being punished by just doing another activity. It is available to purchase as a bundle here.
For Literacy – there is a chance for children to do some free writing with a broad title, list work which is great for vocabulary and recalling skills, magpie work to build up a bank of material for writing genres, reading activities based on their novel or individual reading and also short stories which the children will enjoy writing.
For Gaeilge, there is a focus on lists and this will help with children’s vocabulary and also writing 10 lines based on topics they know already – themselves, their family, their house etc.
For Maths, there are open ended questions such as target numbers as well as working on multiples and factors and also some focus on money (using coins) which there is no correct answer to meaning that the children are willing to give it a go without the fear of getting it wrong.
The Geography pack for example encourages use of Atlas, project work etc.
For Art, these are drawing activities that encourage children to use their imagination.
The STEM activities are based on the use of materials that are easily found in most schools.
The packs all have large (A4) per activity and also 4 activities on 1 page which gives teachers the option to display them on a busy board/early finishers display or else to print out the 4 per page and let the children decide or choose an activity for themselves.
