Today we started the topic ‘Chance’ in Maths. The class found the topic quite easy and very enjoyable so tomorrow we will do some Maths Stations based on the topic.
Tomorrow morning, I will divide the class into 4 groups. Each group will have a different task for 15 minutes. They will each use different equipment and answer questions on this.
- Group 1; use dice (how likely/unlikely to get a 5, an odd number, even number, number bigger than 2, a 9?)
- Group 2; use cubes (put 2 different coloured cubes in a bag – make a tally over 10 times, try 20 times, 30 times – does it make any difference?)
- Group 3; use playing cards (King, Queen, Jack) (what is the likelihood of picking a king/queen/jack, turn the 3 cards upside down and make a tally over 10 times, try 20 times, 30 times – does it make any difference?)
- Group 4; worksheet
We usually do stations once per week with our learning support teachers so it should be interesting to do it with no support tomorrow!
