This is a quick post with some easy P.E. warm ups that I like to use and that the children enjoy.

Farmer Farmer

Children line up at one end of the hall/ yard. 1/2 children are on. Children shout ‘Farmer, Farmer can we cross your golden river’ the catchers reply ‘only if you have ___________’. Any child that has the requirement (a brother/sister/red hair/ shoes with laces etc.) walks across and can’t be caught. The remaining children then have to run to the opposite side and the chasers try to catch them. Whoever is caught is on for the next round.

Number – Groups

Children jog around the room, teacher calls a number and children form groups of that number.

Number – Balance

Children jog around the room, teacher calls a number and children balance on that many body parts.

Tic – Tac Toe

We played this for the first time today and the children LOVED it!

Fruit Bowl

Children sit in a circle. Each child is given the name of a fruit – banana, pear, apple, orange. Teacher calls a fruit name – those children jump up and run along the outside of the circle, when teacher calls home the children run back to their original place (they can’t go backwards). The last child back is out.

Fruit Bowl 2

Children sit in a circle. Each child is given the name of a fruit – banana, pear, apple, orange. Teacher calls a fruit name – those children jump up and swap places with a child who has the same fruit. Last pair sitting are out.

Rats and Rabbits

Split the class into 2. Children stand on a line and face a partner on the opposite line. One side are rats the other rabbits. Teacher calls rats – rats turn and run to a target. Rabbits chase them. Teacher calls rabbits – rabbits turn and run to a target and rats chase them.
