Description

Times Tables are a vital part of many mathematical concepts particularly as children to 5th and 6th class. If the children know their times tables it gives them an automatic headstart when learning new concepts as they are not held back due to a lack of knowledge with their tables.

In my class we do a lot of tables work at the beginning of each lesson from writing out the multiples of a given table, using tables boards and answering quick fire tables questions or playing games with tables. I also have a set of Jenga which the children love to use when practising their times tables.

This pack of resources for times tables includes board games, loop cards, matching cards, powerpoint presentation for reciting the times tables and for a tables champ game!

Times tables Board Games

There are two sets of board games in this download. The first set has an individual game for each times table (x2 – x12).

The second set is grouped so there is a board game for

  • x2, x4
  • x2,x4,x8
  • x3, x6
  • x3,x6,x9
  • x5,x10
  • x7,x11
  • Mixed 1,2,3,4

Times tables Loop Cards

These are a massive hit in my classroom. My friend actually reminded me about them as she was using them in her room. She divides her class in two. The first half start with the loop cards (on a given table) and see how quickly they can complete them. Then the second half do it and the team that do it the quickest win.

Times Tables Matching Cards

These are a brilliant resource for station teaching. The children can work in pairs to play and see how quickly they can match the times tables question with the answer. They could work against another team to add a bit of friendly competition.

Times Tables Powerpoint

In Order and Multiples

First up is the times tables and multiples section – each times table is written out on one page and the multiples on the second page. These can be displayed on the board and the children can recite them. (Helpful for visual learners). (Below you can see the times table for x2 and the multiples for x4)

Mixed order

Then the tables are in mixed order so the children can quickly jot down the answers or call out the answers.

Finally the times tables knockout where the tables are divided into groupings and then theres a slide with them all mixed together- perfect for tables champion!
